This week, 10-16 February, is National Apprenticeship Week. NSAR is getting involved by promoting the value of apprenticeships and how businesses can find support.
The theme of National Apprenticeship Week 2025 is ‘Skills for Life’. Apprenticeships can enable people of all ages to develop the skills they need to succeed in their careers and help employers build the right skills for their businesses.
NSAR’s Rail Workforce Survey 2024 shows that the rail workforce is facing a critical loss of experience and knowledge. Increasing apprenticeship numbers is vital to addressing these shortages – read our article on this topic, released for National Apprenticeship Week. Apprenticeships work well for the types of roles in the rail industry and they facilitate knowledge transfer from experienced employees close to retirement age.
This National Apprenticeship Week, NSAR is focused on supporting businesses to overcome the challenges they face with apprenticeships. We have a range of support that is designed to help organisations of various sizes and at differing stages of their apprenticeship journey – from ‘lighter touch’ assistance with apprenticeship levies, planning, assessment and quality assurance, as well as more intense support such as help with workforce planning, apprentice sourcing and apprenticeship management. As a designated flexi-job apprenticeship provider, we can even employ apprentices on a business’ behalf.
For National Apprenticeship week, NSAR is also releasing new case studies on two of our apprentices – Secunda Ngwa, a Project Management apprentice and Sam Goody, who has recently completed his Data Analyst apprenticeship and is making an impactful difference to our Skills Intelligence Unit. Keep an eye out for those on Wednesday.
And keep an eye out on LinkedIn – NSAR will be posting all week about apprenticeships, support for employers and sharing how other rail organisations are acknowledging National Apprenticeship Week.
