Driving growth and improving infrastructure are top priorities for the new Government. The TIES Living Lab project illustrated the benefits of adopting new approaches to infrastructure delivery and the effect this could have on productivity. This is in line with wider thinking on productivity and infrastructure, which is evolving to consider more diverse methods and how to take advantage of emerging technologies.

With the support of Newton, strategic delivery consultants working across the public and private sectors, this event will explore some of the latest thinking – offering practical thoughts on what government, clients, contractors and operators could be doing to support infrastructure productivity.

It will include discussions on cost measurement and its effects on productivity; energy costs and how optionality can improve government investment; how the insurance sector incentivises upskilling to increase productivity and safety, the next decade in construction and a productivity-focused case study.

The colloquium will conclude with a drinks reception providing an opportunity to discuss the afternoon’s insights and network with fellow attendees.

Speakers:

  • Emma O’Malley, Newton – A case study on workforce effectiveness in water
  • Alex Budzier, University of Oxford – Looking into the next decade in construction.
  • Professor Malcolm Horner, University of Dundee – Making productivity measurement fit for purpose.
  • Steve Medhurst, RSA Insurance – How the insurance sector incentivises upskilling to increase productivity and safety.
  • Olivia Perkins, Morgan Sindall – Productivity-focused case study.
  • Richard Postance, Accenture – Energy costs and how optionality can improve government investment.
