What is the TIES Living Lab?
Transport Infrastructure Efficiency Strategy (TIES)
This project is a transformative collaboration of 25 partners including government departments, academia, and business – from TIER 1 companies to boutique specialist SMEs.
The focus is on driving smarter transport infrastructure using data, technology and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) within live transport infrastructure projects.
This project focusses on 5 infrastructure, data research and digital demonstrator projects to showcase ways in which we can promote the use, integration and adoption of innovations that will drive productivity in major construction and infrastructure schemes.
What is NSAR's role?
NSAR was appointed as the organisational lead for the TIES Living Lab project, coordinating and arranging the various aspects of the projects including marketing and communication.
Why is this project important?
The TIES Living Lab will deliver significant value-adding benefits across the transport infrastructure sector including:
Productivity - Making projects greener, safer, better value-for-money and less disruptive
Adopting new technology — Standardising modern methods of construction and data-sharing across the sector
Social value — Measuring social value and ensuring transport projects are delivering maximum social value across the country.
AVA Footbridge and Lift System
The AVA Footbridge and Lift System was one of four Physical Asset Demonstrator projects in the TIES Living Lab. It was a collaboration among industry leaders in engineering, manufacturing and construction.
The AVA Modular Footbridge and Lift System revolutionises the procurement, manufacturing and installation of railway footbridges. This is the first new lift system to be introduced into the UK lift market for a number of years. The bridge and lift are now standard designs in Network Rail’s design guide.
